Forage Kitchen was started by two UW grads looking to bring healthy, fresh and fast food to their alma mater. Tired of the same “so-called” healthy corporate chain options, Henry Aschauer and Doug Hamaker made it their mission to bring a local health-conscious eatery to lower State St in downtown Madison. With strong dedication and passion, you can find them daily behind the counter serving up bowls and chatting with customers.

Mindful sourcing from local purveyors and sustainable agriculture, all eco-friendly take-out packaging, compelling service and rich company culture pillar our mission as we focus on creating a healthier planet through our daily actions.
We take pride in our ingredients and never use hidden preservatives or additives. Everything is made from scratch and in house daily from whole foods using only extra virgin olive oil for all dressings and sauces. We believe fast food can be something you can still feel good about and aim to prove that healthy food is anything but boring. The majority of the menu is naturally gluten free and can be made vegetarian or vegan upon request. Have an allergy or special dietary need?
